The Nation’s 13th Largest Political Action Committee, “The Twenty-First Century Democrats” Endorses Ike Leggett for County Executive for Montgomery County
Ike Leggett recently received attention at the national level when his candidacy was endorsed by one of the nation’s largest political action committee, “Twenty-First Century Democrats.” The group has endorsed a total of 33 candidates nationwide in the 2006 election cycle.
“Each one of our endorsed candidates is a truly visionary, bold leader who already is a proven results- producer,” said Kelly C. Young, president of Twenty- First Century Democrats. “By electing this caliber of candidate to office nationwide and at all levels, we will be planting the seeds for a quantum leap forward in public policy. These aren’t your politicians-as- usual; these people are exactly who we need to bring about a revolution in this country for politics that works for all of us.”
The organization, founded in 1985, is focused on being the catalyst for a new progressive movement in the United States through which it is ensured that the next generation of elected officials is made up of bold, forward-thinking leaders.
The ... visionary, bold leaders we endorse ... have the utmost integrity and they all are proud to stand up for what they believe and to say what they believe regardless of external pressures,” said Young. “Most importantly, each and every one of them will stay true to their vision for America – they will not become poll-dependant or driven by consultants when in office. They will be guided by their values.”
“I want to thank the Twenty-First Century Democrats for this endorsement,” said Leggett. “The challenges we face in Montgomery County require an independent leader – one who will act in the best interests of all of its citizens. The ideals expressed by this group are ideals upon which our democracy is founded upon.”
The Twenty-First Century Democrats’ endorsement is one of a growing number of endorsements that Ike Leggett has received recently. Leggett recently received the endorsement of The Washington Post, The Montgomery Gazette, MCGEO (Municipal and County Government Employees Organization) and Local 400 Labor Unions; Progressive Maryland; Montgomery County Career Fire Fighters Association; The Sierra Club; Neighbors for a Better Montgomery; Montgomery County Green Democrats; Montgomery College Democrats; Montgomery County Hispanic Democratic Club; D.C.
