Thank you!

Thank you very much for all of your hard work that produced a resounding victory in my election for County Executive. Your tremendous assistance in getting out my message to such a large electorate was an enormous task. Your participation in parades, fundraisers, outdoor movies, festivals, concerts, metros, giving and attending meet-and-greets, data entry, research, writing, emailing, and your overall enthusiasm was a tremendous boost to my campaign in all parts of Montgomery County. Running a grass roots campaign is quite challenging; I could not have done this without your very active support and confidence in me and my leadership and message for change in Montgomery County. I know that you contributed hours of your personal time helping me and I am sincerely humbled by the amount of time you spent to enable me become County Executive.

Now that the election is over, we are initiating a roadmap for the next four years. The campaign is over, but the real work has just begun. I need your support more than ever. It is now time to unite as one, working together for a better Montgomery County. Please let me hear from you--not just about what is going well and the things I want to hear, but more importantly, the things I need to hear.

Thank you again for all of your hard work and your active participation as we move Montgomery County forward.

Montgomery County faces critical issues requiring innovative solutions. We must strive harder for traffic relief, schools in which every child can learn, far more affordable housing, and a responsible and independent approach to managing growth. I look forward to working for all citizens of Montgomery County as your next County Executive.

My commitment to democratic ideals has been the cornerstone of my long career in public service. Whether fighting for civil rights or workers' rights, leading the fight for affordable housing or environmental preservation, I have always worked to bring people together to achieve our common democratic values.

I have a record of achieving results in Montgomery County. For 16 years I served on the County Council as a voice of balance and leadership for Montgomery County. I led the efforts to:

  • Reduce class sizes in our public schools
  • Help protect our environment and preserve our green spaces
  • Increase funding for affordable housing
  • Create new opportunities for small business
  • Help lift people out of poverty by passing the living wage law
  • Anticipate emergencies

I went on to lead the Maryland Democratic Party to ensure that the same values we have here at home could be realized at the state level. I'm looking forward to continuing to bring people together to achieve results and ensure a better future for every one of us.

As a grassroots campaign, we rely on the passion and hard work of volunteers in every community in our county. Thousands of people have come together to support our campaign, and we hope you'll join us in creating a better Montgomery County for all.
